GO FISH!

For Mother's Day my friend Colleen decided we should gift ourselves with a fishing trip.  We loaded up in a suburban and headed to Ninilchik and spent a night in a cabin.
The next morning we walked over and found our boat.  It hasd been an awful spring and we had been looking at the forecast and just praying for no wind.  May in Alaska is dicey at best so we were thrilled when we woke up and saw only a slight chance of rain and minor breeze predicted for the day. The captain later told us that this was the nicest day he's had in a month.

Heading out to find some salmon!
We spent 1/2 the day fishing for king salmon and 1/2 the day for Halibut.
Vicky caught the first King of the day and we were pretty pumped for her!
Then Kiley managed to reel one in!
Colleen just chillin
Waiting patiently for our lines to dip.  We would have a dance party while we waited.  I think the captain thought we were nuts. Especially once he found out how many kids we all had.
I caught my first King Salmon!!!! I was pretty pumped!
The ride out to the Halibut hole was a little rough.  Lexi had taken a bunch of anti nausea meds that made her very sleepy.  At one point her head was hitting the wall with each wave and she slept right through it.  I also need to remember that she had an injured foot and couldn't wear a boot so instead she just had a slipper on with a bag wrapped around it. It was pretty priceless.
We all caught our limit minus one halibut.  Each person can only have one big and one little.  Kiley reeled in so many and just couldn't get a small one. But she made a valiant effort and I'm sure she was sore the next day.
