Before we headed off to Idaho and Canada for a large portion of summer we tried to fit in a few more hikes and a little more Alaska. On June 18th we went up to Hatchers Pass with our friends the Brown's and did the Gold Cord Lake hike. I was surprised by the amount of snow still up there. Most of the hike is on springy tundra and the kids had fun scrambling up the path.

We were able to experience our first summer solstice. Here is what it looks like at 11:30pm at night.

Friend lake and river tour continued.
We spent the morning on the North Fork. Luckily we didn't have any bear sightings.
A bunch of us met up for supper at Eklutna Lake. Which meant my kids ended up once again filthy dirty.
The day we left we tried out Goose Lake. My kids spent most of the time chasing around the ducks. The ducks had very little fear because they are around people so much.
